October Currently

Oh man! I thought once things got going I would have more time to blog but that doesn't seem to be the case. Since I missed September's currently I couldn't miss this one!

 

Listening: I'm finally watching the Grey's premier! This is how far behind I am with my DVR. 

Loving: I got my wedding pics back a week after the wedding. This week I finally printed some out and I love LOVE them!! I love our photographer and can't wait to do more pics with them one day! Now to go buy frames for all of our pics!

Thinking: I have so much to do that I need to start working.

Wanting: A personal assistant to organize everything for me. Any takers :-)

Needing: More time in the day! So much to do so little time.

Trick or Treat: I use this trick with my firsties when I want their attention I say lions, tigers and bears then they reply back oh my! So cute and I like it better than some other attention signals that are out there.

1. Why did you start blogging?
I started my blog to document my life. As you can see that is what I do and teaching is a big part of it so that appears on the blog along with anything and everything that is happening in my life.

2. What is your favorite subject to teach and why?
I love to teach reading! I love reading to my students. My biggest thing is to teach my students to love to read and to become life long readers.

3. Describe your teaching style.
I would consider my teaching style very high expectations for all of my students. I also try to make my lessons as hands on as I can. I want to create life long learners that care about each other.

4. Give three interesting facts about you.
1. I teach where I attended school.
 2. I met my husband online and found out we went to the same college just different campuses.
 3. My husband and I own three "carpet" gnomes that guard our tv :)

It's Friday so a 5 for Friday!!

It is finally Friday!!!! This week was so long! Not because of my firsties but because Mr. J was out of town all week. Yes we only have a dog but Mr. J has totally been doing everything around the house since school has started. So I totally missed him this week and so did Stout. I'm linking up for a 5 for Friday again. And this week I'm posting on Friday! I'm forcing myself to post before passing out :)

1. Our TV died last week. So Mr. J went and bought this beast. It is huge!!

2. We have been using our clip chart that I made. The kids are totally loving it and one firstie made it to Outstanding today!! I will be posting it as a freebie on my tpt soon.

3. My Really Good Stuff order came yesterday!! I love these tray they hold my construction paper. I want more. Unfortunately the other item I ordered in the wrong color so it is on its way back.

4. I found this little guy on my bathroom floor this week. Don't ask me how he got in  but I freaked out and of course Mr. J was gone! He was pretty cute once I got him outside. He even posed for this pic :)

This is how I have felt all week and have been living off of Diet Cokes to get me through the day. Shh don't tell Mr. J that someone got to be on the bed last night ;-)

5 for Saturday Night

That's right I have been so bad about blogging lately! Then I had intentions to post last night but was so tired!! Darn the first week of school! So here is my Five for Friday Saturday!Go checkout what others have been up to this week!

1. Last weekend we went to Great Wolf Lodge to celebrate my birthday! It was a great way to also kick off the school year!

 

Yesterday we read Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes and then we graphed our names. We also drew tigers that was my example on the board.

Sorry the pic is blurry! But we have started our Daily 5 routine and are working on building our stamina!

We worked on reviewing vowels this week and used Teacher to the Core's Chicka Vowels Pack. This was the art project that was in the pack. So much fun and so great for my firsties!

This was my reward for making it through the first week of school! Those of you who work in a school know just how tiring the first week is! Thank goodness for the weekend to recover!! Now to watch some football! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Five for Friday!

Five for Friday has started up again and this week I have time to link up!!

1. I went into the classroom this week. Didn't accomplish much since my room isn't cleaned yet. So no setting up yet. I did manage to make some copies! I also have been killing trees at home this week by printing like crazy.

2. We have been having healthier dinners since getting back from Hawaii. Too many nights of eating out while on vacations has us craving healthier food. Well this meal was a little too healthy so we ended up at DQ for dessert.

 3. Stout and I had some fun outside this week washing cars. Pretty sure he just supervised.

 4. We got our wedding pics this week and I got my ring back from the jeweler!

5. Did happy hour with the hubby tonight! Now to pack for heading down to the in-laws for the weekend!

Teacher Week: Meet the Teacher

I know I have been MIA. I have been soaking up the last of summer by hanging out with Stout and attempting to get the house organized. I still haven't finished unpacking our suitcases from Hawaii! Oh well! It will get done eventually :-) Today I'm excited to be linking up for Teacher Week!!

So 10 things about me...
 1. This will be my 5th year teaching and my second year teaching where I attended school!

2. I married my best friend 12 days ago in Hawaii! The day was perfect and our vacation was a blast.

 8. I have taught in 3 different districts but I have only taught kinder and first.

 9. I love being around water even if it is just our kiddie pool.

 10. My favorite holidays are Halloween and St. Patrick's Day but I like decorating for all :-)
